Nice C wasn't too displeased with his last in the bag peg draw and with a biting Northerly wind the carp didn't stray far from their usual haunts.
Feeding 4mm and fishing 6mm pellets over the top on the pole was the winning method.
Well done Nige and section winners.

A tight contest on the roadside for the top 3 individuals.
John caught exclusively on the groundbait feeder with dead and live red maggots to come out on top.
Strong winds made for some poor weights elsewhere.
Fish of the day has to be a 2lb Chub that helped Terry to his section win.
Well done John and framers

A very tight result with 1 Carp separating the top 3.
Very much a match of two halves for Barry. A change to the meat resulted in a strong finish catching Carp short to take the win.

Steve managed to just top a string of low weights by 2oz to lift the trophy.
Very well done Steve and hard lines Gary.

Considering the conditions, this was a decent set of results.
Having fished the same peg during the week Nige knew exactly how to make the best of his draw. Starting on the pole and following the fish out on the waggler with maggot over loosefed pinkie accounted for 94 fish and an excellent win.
Yesterday's results from High Stand.
With a small turnout all pegs were on the Mill Pond.
Plenty of small fish moving and a few Carp to double figures cruising about before the all in.
1st Nigel Ripley 6-8-0. Peg 5.
2nd Nigel Collis 5-14-0. Peg 1.
3rd Barry Evans 4-7-0. Peg 4.
With clear water and a bright day the quick start on the whip didn't last long. However, the waggler with pinkie and maggot kept Roach coming in bursts from the first peg on the far bank.
This side has not been used for a few years but was worth the bit extra effort getting the gear there.
It was good to see large shoals of fry and the Roach were in immaculate condition.

Winning pair
Terry Guthrie and Bob Cranmer 10/12 section points.
Plenty of Roach, Perch and small Skimmers feeding today with the odd better skimmer too.
Terry put his usual whip , groundbait and maggot approach to good use to win the match and take the all important section win. Coupled with a supporting third in section from Bob it was enough to win the event by two points from both Andy and Phil and Nige C and Barry.
Well done men.

Yesterday's round was fished on an extremely low river and with bright conditions thrown in it was always going to be a difficult match.
Nigel Collis made the most of the nearside cover to extract a couple of decent Chub and some good Perch on the tip with lobworm. When added to the small fish that came to waggler tactics this gave Nige the only double figure return on the day. Well done Nige.
Thanks as ever go to Haughton AC for hosting us and to Paul Hunter for guidance on pegging.

Well done Gary, never in doubt.
