A peg with no appreciable edges certainly didn't stop Dave putting his name on the trophy for the third year running.
He fished micros and expanders on the far mudline, paste down the track and topped up with a few late fish shallow on
caster for a very comfortable win.

A close result was always on the cards when two of the venues best drew favoured pegs. A mere 3 oz separated them at the all out. Terry fished his usual whip with maggot over regular small balls of groundbait to catch Perch, Rudd and Roach with a bonus Tench of 1.5 lb to take the trophy.

The Sir David Burnett Cup , High Stand.
With a low turnout today's match was pegged on the Mill lake nearside only for easy access. With a high water level and recent rain going in a difficult match was anticipated and so it proved with fish reluctant to settle anywhere.
Plenty of rig and depth changes were required to keep small Roach and Perch coming to the net on maggot and pinkie.

2nd Barry Evans 4--3-0. The Tins.
3rd Lee Richardson 3-12-0 . Shallow end.

Result from today's Senior League round on Whittledene Match Lake.
Not the match everyone was expecting with the Roach doing a disappearing act for the majority.
Skimmers and Perch still provided a string of double figure weights.
Steve had 40 Skimmers backed by Perch and Roach for his comfortable win .He caught on both the feeder and pole, ringing the changes bait wise with caster, worm , maggot and pinkie.

With 10 anglers in the 12 nearside pegs and a lot of footfall from pleasure anglers , the lake has fished surprisingly well. 6mm banded pellet long followed by meat short accounted for around 80 Carp , although I was sided by an end peg draw.

Our hosts showed us the way today taking the top two places. On a low river it was small Roach and Dace in the main. The overcast conditions probably prevented an even tougher day. Nige Rance found some of the big Perch, fishing both Stick float and the tip, to boost his weight and take a comfortable win. Well done Nige and framers. The river may not have been at it's best but still a lovely place to fish. Thanks again to all the Haughton lads for your assistance.

No far bank markers to aim for in the gloom this morning. Maybe that's why feeder fishing was very poor today by the venue's usual standards !
Whip and waggler produced the better weights fishing maggot over groundbait. With the bigger fish not settling for long over the feed and issues with Trout it was a case of picking off small Roach to keep things ticking over.

First of all , many thanks to Dave who always shares his venue knowledge on what's in vogue regarding baits and what lines are working.
Expanders over micros and loose fed maggot accounted for most fish today although I did get a few on meat too. With the water level down and the lake definitely carrying less colour the edges weren't at their best. Between 2.5ft and 3ft of water seemed to give them more confidence to feed.

Very much a match of two halves today. Roach and Skimmers feeding on the roadside pegs with the far bank predominantly small Perch.
Barry fished a 6mtr whip with maggot over groundbait to secure the trophy by a comfortable margin. Well done Barry and framers.

Despite water and colour dropping out of the river and numerous Pike attacks there were still some decent weights today. Local expertise was on show again.
Chris found better Dace and Roach to 10oz on the waggler and maggot with a 4lb Chub boosting his weight for a comfortable win. Well done Chris.
It may have been much closer if Paul didn't have the misfortune to lose a couple of Chub on the meat.

Seasonal difficulties with wind, rain and leaves dictating pole lines fished today. Nice to see a few caught on the waggler with Tom winning his section on it.
