High Stand is situated in Inglewood Forest near Armathwaite, Cumbria. The fishery consists of three ponds; Skelly, Small and Mill. Mill Pond, the larger of the three has depths varying from 6 – 15 ft is well populated with roach, perch and a large population of chub and tench, some to specimen size. Small numbers of large carp are also present. There is a 1 lb dry ground bait limit on this water. A closed season applies on this water 1st April to 31st May (both dates inclusive). Pike angling season is Oct 1st – March 31st.
To travel to High Stand, take the A69 to Brampton and continue on the Brampton Bypass. Turn left at the end of the bypass and continue on the road to Warwick Bridge, which crosses the River Eden. Go over this bridge and turn immediately left onto Wetheral Road. Continue on this road through the village of Wetheral. Just outside Wetheral is a T-junction on the left signposted Armathwaite. Take this road for around 3 miles passing the animal refuge centre. Inglewood Forest and the entrance is on the right. Enter the forest and drive up the forest track for around a mile. A small area for car parking is on the left, just before the ponds. This is the only area that cars should be parked. You BWAC membership book will be supplied with a High Stand parking permit – this must be displayed at all times, whether you are fishing or not.
As with all of our waters, and T.A.A. waters, members are requested not to leave any litter, not to disturb the undergrowth and to keep to the tracks, to minimise any disturbance to the wildlife.
