Big Waters

The Big Waters Lake is large at around 22 acres at the bottom of a shallow depression, causing it to be a fairly windswept spot at times. The Big Waters Country Park is signposted just as you leave Brunswick Village from the east or enter it from the west. At the end of a fairly bumpy lane a sizeable car park is reached. The water is shared with the Northumberland Wildlife Trust (N.W.T) and the country park is open to the general public. The fishing is restricted to the eastern end of the lake, the bulk of the lake being a Nature Reserve. A wildlife watching hide is constructed at the western end of the lake. Anglers must not venture into the area designated as Nature Reserve. The lake holds carp, bream, roach, rudd, and perch, with the occasional eel being caught. The carp and bream particularly reaching specimen size, with bream over 7 lb. There is no close season on this water.
